For dark spots and marks
How rubbing your face dry makes dark marks. The research.
Three ways a towel makes new marks, what dermatology research found, and how ours stops each one.
Press-dry 780 GSM · 100% cotton · No softeners
The research
Three problems. What the research found. What we did.

Problem 01
New marks while old ones fade.
Friction and irritation trigger extra pigment, especially on brown and Black skin.
The research
Friction
Dermatologists documented “friction melanosis”, dark patches from rubbing skin with nylon towels. Marks from irritation are more common and darker on brown and Black skin.
Tanigaki et al., Journal of Dermatology 1985 (friction melanosis); Hsieh & Tsai, Dermatitis 2023; Davis & Callender, J Clin Aesthet Dermatol 2010 (PIH in darker skin)
The MIORA fix
Press once. No scrubbing.
Dense 780 GSM, zero-twist cotton drinks water on contact, so one press dries your face. No rubbing, no friction marks.

Problem 02
Rough, scratchy terry.
Short fibers and tight-twisted loops drag across skin.
The research
Wet = more drag
Friction between fabric and skin rises sharply when skin is wet. Soft, low-twist loops of long fibers make the most absorbent terry.
Gerhardt et al., Journal of the Royal Society Interface 2008; Gerhardt et al., Skin Research & Technology 2009; Singh & Behera, Indian Journal of Fibre & Textile Research 2015
The MIORA fix
Long-staple cotton, zero-twist loops.
Long fibers spun into a smooth yarn, in open loops that stay plush, not scratchy, on skin you’re trying to calm.

Problem 03
Irritated skin marks darker.
Softener film and chemical finishes sit on freshly washed skin.
The research
Top triggers
Formaldehyde resin finishes and disperse dyes are the top textile skin triggers, and irritated skin is what leaves marks behind.
U.S. GAO, Formaldehyde in Textiles (GAO-10-875, 2010); DermNet, Formaldehyde allergy; Malinauskiene et al., Contact Dermatitis 2013; Nijman et al., Contact Dermatitis 2023; Tanigaki et al., Journal of Dermatology 1985 (friction melanosis); Hsieh & Tsai, Dermatitis 2023; Davis & Callender, J Clin Aesthet Dermatol 2010 (PIH in darker skin)
The MIORA fix
Nothing on it but cotton.
No softener, no formaldehyde finish, no disperse dyes, so drying your face never irritates it.
Softeners: 0
